All Discovery Horse Floats are manufactured with dividers, whether they are angled dividers or straight load partitions. Horses must be separated for safety purposes whilst being transported. In many float builds these dividers are fastened in place and irremovable, which we believe limits the client's horse float options.
All our Discovery head, chest, and centre dividers are designed to either swing away or be removed. This can make loading a nervous horse easier, or can give a horse more room during transport that needs to move it's head.
A head divider (often called stallion divider) is recommended to prevent horses biting each other. Whilst they may be the best of paddock mates, travelling in a float can cause emotions which trigger biting. However, the head divider must be easily removable in case a horse gets into difficulty. Yet, it needs to be secure whilst travelling so it does not swing and hit the horse’s head or frighten it.
Our shoulder bars in our standard straight load floats are both adjustable and removable. The height of these bars can easily be adjusted according to your horses height. This must be done to avoid any strain or injury to the horses shoulders. A keen aspect of the Discovery straight loads is the ability to angle the centre divider and secure it to a side point, creating an angled bay, sometimes needed for a anxious or sick horse, or even a mare and foal. Discovery centre dividers are fitted to fully padded rear breach doors and we do not fix to bars or chains.
The option to move dividers can also help in unloading a horse, or in storing extra large equipment like tack mates and portable carts / gear.
